Wine etiquette: First rule

The wine follows nowadays the nouvelle vague of cuisine. Furthermore, from the noble kitchens of Europe where the wine refining used to take place at home, wine moved on to the common table of the average family who is increasingly erudite on the wine various subjects.

In fact, it is known that most current recipes will not satisfy you with casual wine accompaniments but require greater wine knowledge.

Even in the wine cellars, the approximate family-run wine production has been left to move on, in the majority of cases, to productions which, although very limited, are the result of grafts, blends, oenological studies, wine aging and refinements. A big difference.

In short, we have not all become sommeliers, let's be clear, but there is a clear difference between the wine culture of 100 years ago and the current wine culture and such a trend is constantly growing.

Good wine has arrived on everyone's tables and together with the wine all the tradition that has always followed it has also arrived.

And here we come to etiquette, good manners at the table also include the utmost attention to how to handle and drink wine.

The first thing that comes to mind when we get an invitation for dinner is to bring wine to our hosts. We rush and buy a couple of bottles of good wine but we don't know the recipes that will be served and therefore we don't know which specific wine to buy.

First rule: always bring two bottles of wine regardless of the number of guests.

If you are the host and your guests brought you some wine, then instead of placing it on the shelf, open the wine immediately, it doesn't matter if the wine cannot be paired with the chosen dishes. It's a matter of courtesy.
